Prime Time: 3 Beauty Treatments You Can Try During Commercial Breaks

With our favorite fall TV shows just weeks away from starting up again, many of us are eschewing those after-work drink plans in favor of a spot on our oh-so-comfy couches. Elevate your night in by including a little skin care in the programming schedule. We’re sharing three pampering beauty treatments you can do at home during commercial breaks. Hey, you may even find them more addicting than the fall lineup.

Treat Your Feet

Before you trade in your flip-flops for fall’s trendy boots, give your feet a little TLC. Wearing sandals and flip-flops—and let’s face it, going barefoot—all summer long can put a toll on your soles. We’re talking, dryness, callused heels, and nails that are in desperate need of some love. During the first commercial break, dip your feet in a warm soak—throw in a little Epsom salts and Argan oil. Dry off, layer on a thick moisturizer, and pull on some socks until the next commercial. Next time, head back to the bath to rinse off the moisturizer and scrub down your soles with an exfoliating scrub like The Body Shop’s Peppermint Smoothing Pumice Foot Scrub—for rough heels try reaching for a pumice stone. Repeat the moisturizer-plus-sock step from before and wear overnight for smoother, softer feet come morning!

Multitask With Masks

Sure, we’re big fans of masking during our Sunday night skin care routines—but our other favorite time to face mask is while watching our favorite TV shows. During the first commercial break, cleanse your face—no face mask should ever be used on dirty skin…because, breakouts are real you guys—then use your masks. Find ones that will last 10-15 minutes, which is about the time it will take before the next commercial break begins. You can opt to use one mask or multi-mask to target various skincare concerns. We love L’Oréal Paris’ Pure-Clay Masks—learn more about them, here. After 10 minutes, rinse away, tone and moisturize.

Mani-Care

Take care of your hands with this commercial break DIY. Before your show starts get your supplies: a bowl with warm water, a towel, a nail file, cuticle oil, and hand cream. First up, soak your hands in the warm water during the first commercial then dry off. Next, file your nails to the desired length and shape—let’s face it ladies, you can finish up during actual air time. Then, reach for the cuticle oil—we love Essie’s Apricot Cuticle Oil—and place a small amount on each nail, massage in, and follow up with a few coats of your favorite polish.

Now you have even more of a reason to look forward to next week’s episode!
