The 8 Products Skincare.com Editors Can’t Go a Day Without

As beauty editors, we know we have it good. Day in and day out, we get to try dozens of complimentary skin care and beauty products to find what products work best for our skin types—and hopefully yours! From finding the best sunscreen to wear under makeup to researching eye creams that can reduce the appearance of dark circles to curating a roundup of products that can prolong your summer glow, we’ve got you and your skin concerns covered. With that being said, our research (more often than not) has led us to find some products that we now can’t go a day without. From our Social Media Editor’s favorite on-the-go product to our Editor in Chief’s must-try innovative cleanser to our Junior Editors’ obsession with lip balm and coconut oil, we’re sharing a roundup of skin care products that we can’t go a day without, below.

Noelle, Social Media Editor: Makeup Remover Wipes

If I had to pick one skin care product that I can’t live without (which isn’t easy), it would have to be makeup remover wipes because they’re so portable and easy to use on-the-go—read: after the gym. Garnier sent their Purifying Oil-Free Cleansing Towelettes for our Skincare.com editors to try and review and I have been hooked on them ever since. What sets them apart from other makeup remover wipes is that they have a mattifying effect and are formulated with charcoal—so, they can draw out oil and impurities and don’t leave a sticky residue.

Jackie, Editor in Chief: Micellar Water

I never, ever seem to get off all of my makeup at the end of the day (I blame my love of layering mascara). Micellar water is like my own personal skin care insurance policy. I always use a makeup remover wipe and wash with a cleanser, but I like to go over everything with a quick swipe of a cotton pad soaked in a micellar solution before I move on with my skin care routine. I'm currently using Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water, which I picked up at the supermarket on a whim thanks to the low price point. But, don't let the affordability fool you, this cleansing solution is no joke. It removes all of the traces of lingering makeup (and that caked on mascara I love) and my skin looks and feels squeaky clean but not dried out!

Jessica, Junior Editor: Blotting Papers, Facial Mist, Lip Balm

My biggest pet peeve is looking into the mirror and seeing my T-zone covered in a layer of grease. So, blotting papers are my saving grace. I stash them in my desk and occasionally blot my complexion to instantly absorb excess oil so it’s shine-free and mattified. Plus, my makeup remains in-tact! Win, win.

Once the caffeine starts to wear off, my eyes begin to droop and I’m desperately in need of a pick-me-up. Luckily, our Skincare.com team gets sent free products to try and review on the regular—facial mists included. I’m currently using Vichy’s Mineralizing Thermal Water—a naturally rich facial mist formulated with 15 beneficial minerals. I love how soothing and refreshing it feels, instantly perking me up so I can tackle the remainder of the day.

Okay, I confess: I have a lip balm addiction. I’ll be the first to admit that I am a bit neurotic about a chapped pout. A day does not go by that I don’t coat my lips in soothing emollients—liberally, might I add. Right now I am using Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1. I love the way it hydrates my lips, even in dry winter weather.

Jessie, Junior Editor: Sunscreen, Balm, Hand Cream

The number one thing that I cannot go a day without is sunscreen (and you shouldn’t too!). Because I have fair skin, it is extremely important for me to protect my complexion from the sun—even if I am just walking to lunch or running a quick errand. I wear it under my makeup, coat my hands in it, and reapply throughout the day to ensure that my skin is getting maximum protection.

One of my favorite skin care products is skin salve or balm. So, when NYX Professional Makeup sent us their All Over Balm to try and review I was, well… all over it. Of the three oil-infused-balms—argan oil, coconut oil, and macadamia nut oil— my favorite would have to be the coconut oil. I rub the balm into my cuticles, use it on my dry lips, and sometimes even tame my flyaways with it throughout the day.

Confession: I am obsessed with taking care of the skin on my hands. As one of the first places to show premature signs of aging, taking care of our hands is just as important as taking care of our complexions. And working in an office with the air conditioning on in the summer and heat blasting in the winter has wreaked havoc on my hands, which is why I started using hand cream. I have a big bottle that sits on my desk at all times and am constantly reapplying throughout the day— especially after washing them or handling paper. Right now I am using The Body Shop’s Coconut Hand Cream. I love it because it hydrates my skin, absorbs quickly, and is travel-size—so, I can throw it in my purse or suitcase and reapply while on-the-go.
