The Body Shop’s Beauty Botanist Spills the Best Cleanser and Moisturizer Pairings for Winter

With winter right around the corner, we’ve turned our attention to finding the best facial cleansers and moisturizers that can help target some of the season’s most common skin concerns (i.e. dry skin). To find the best cleanser and moisturizer pairings for our winter skin care regimens, we went straight to the source and tapped into The Body Shop’s Beauty Botanist, Jennifer Hirsch.

Finding the best cleanser and moisturizer pairings to target seasonal dry skin and frigid winter weather can be quite challenging—but, fortunately, not impossible. With a little (okay, a lot) help from The Body Shop’s Beauty Botanist, Jennifer Hirsch, we’ve rounded up four cleanser and moisturizer pairings from The Body Shop that can work together to challenge the drying effects of winter weather with hydrating ingredients and illuminating benefits. Keep reading to find out what four facial cleansers and moisturizers pairings made the cut.

THE BODY SHOP VITAMIN C DAILY GLOW CLEANSING POLISH + VITAMIN C GLOW BOOSTING MOISTURIZER

“Packing a one-two punch, The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Daily Glow Cleansing Polish doesn’t just cleanse— addressing the daily grime that stands between your skin and radiance— the gentle exfoliation [can] also lift away dead skin cells that dull your complexion, instantly helping to give skin a glowing appearance. Use it before Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturizer [to] optimize how the moisturizer—with its radiance-enhancing formula—works. Exfoliation helps the moisturizer sink into the top layers of the skin faster, where the [formula] can get to work.”

THE BODY SHOP VITAMIN E CREAM CLEANSER + VITAMIN E INTENSE MOISTURE

“Winter asks a lot from our skin. Exposure to the winter weather and moisture-sapping central heating can take a serious toll on our skin. Vitamin E— with its moisturizing and protective properties— is the perfect go-to ingredient for parched skin. The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Cream Cleanser is non-foaming, which is perfect for skin with a tendency toward dryness. If you find avoiding water helps to keep your skin in balance, this is the perfect cleanser as it can be wiped away with [cotton] pads. What it leaves behind is clean skin and the perfect platform from which to continue layering on moisturizing products.

As the seasons change, your skin care needs to change because your skin does. And one of the key places to ring in those changes is your moisturizer. The skin is the body’s largest organ, and to keep it in good condition, it needs to be hydrated. The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Intense Moisturizer works to trap water in the top layers of the skin where it’s needed the most. Stepping up to a more potent moisturizer—it doesn’t have to be heavy to be effective—will help skin stay hydrated even with chapping winds and the parching effect of heating.”

THE BODY SHOP ALOE CALMING FOAM WASH + ALOE VERA SOOTHING DAY CREAM

“Fragrance-free and packed with one of nature’s best skin soothers—aloe vera—this duo constantly works to calm sensitive skin. Aloe is also one of nature’s great replenishers, being both hydrating and humectant—so, following Aloe Calming Foam Face Wash with Aloe Vera Soothing Day Cream (which is formulated to trap moisture on the skin) is just good skin sense.”

THE BODY SHOP POMEGRANATE SOFTENING FACIAL WASH + POMEGRANATE FIRMING DAY CREAM

“Pomegranate seed oil is at the heart of both of these products. The creamy Pomegranate Softening Facial Wash is formulated with skin-conditioning ingredients to address the visible signs of skin aging from the first step of the routine. The combination of gentle cleansers and plant oils power this product. Layering on more pomegranate seed oil in the intensive Pomegranate Firming Day Cream amplifies the targeting of the visible signs of aging. Helping to leave skin feeling and looking firmer and smoother.”
