You’ve probably seen Kristin Ess’ hair looks floating around on the internet — they’re practically made for Instagram (think soft beachy waves, choppy layers and chic hair accessories) — and have been recreated by beauty gurus and enthusiasts alike. Her chic and approachable creations (along with a devoted following) have helped her amass over 500K followers on Instagram, as well as create the namesake hair-care line you can find in the aisles of your local Target. We recently caught up with the celebrity stylist to find out how she takes care of her skin, including the unconventional cleanser that’s a staple in her routine.          View this post on Instagram           A post shared by KRISTIN ESS HAIR • FOUNDER (@kristin_ess) on Nov 5, 2018 at 4:29pm PST  View this post on Instagram           A post shared by KRISTIN ESS HAIR • FOUNDER (@kristin_ess) on Feb 8, 2019 at 6:10pm PSTAs someone who wears makeup regularly, Ess describes her skin-care routine as “semi-minimal,” but effective. “I use three things: I take my makeup off with Dior Hydra Life Micellar Water, and then in the shower I use Kristin Ess Extra Gentle Shampoo to clean my face.” Ess stumbled upon the hack while showering one day and never looked back. “I find that it cleanses but never dries out my face. I use it with Korean face towels — they’re kind of like a little sheet, and exfoliate with that everyday. That’s it!” Well, that’s almost it. The third product in Ess’ routine is a moisturizer. She opts for Kiehl’s Creme D’Elegance Repairateur, which she describes as a “super rich cream that [she] slathers on.” In addition to a regular cleanse-and-moisturize routine, she also gets regular facials to maintain her luminous complexion. “I get them every other week,” says Ess, adding that her bi-weekly facials allow her to have a simpler skin-care routine at home.Although Ess takes a pared-down approach to skin care, she considers herself a maximalist when it comes to her makeup routine. Whether she’s swiping on a “killer red” lip (her favorite is Milk Makeup Lip Color in Name Drop) or patting on NYX Powder Puff Lippie Lip Cream, her holy-grail lipstick, Ess uses makeup as a way to take her looks to the next level and communicate her mood. Same, girl, same. If you’re not already following Ess on Instagram, what are you waiting for? Hit her up for genius beauty tips, tricks and, of course, hair inspo every day. Read More: Meet Tacha, and the $79 Serum She Can’t Live Without#Skincrush: Influencer Morgan Brown Shares Her Everyday Skin-Care RoutineA Simple Skin-Care Routine for Mature Skin Types
