There’s an endless array of moisturizers, serums that promise glowy, healthier looking skin and enough sheet masks to make my head spin. It’s where I go for all things skin care, so when I was tasked with spending a hypothetical $50 at Walgreens on it, let’s just say it was a breeze. See my picks, for a total spend of $49, ahead:

Cerave Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Serum, $19 MSRP

I would buy this product a hundred times over, even if it wasn’t only $19 MSRP. Hyaluronic acid is a popular beauty ingredient (it can be found in everything from moisturizer to foundation) because of its ability to lock in moisture and maintain the protective skin barrier but works well on its own, too. This particular formula contains three essential ceramides and Vitamin B5 and can be layered on top of or underneath your moisturizer. It has a gel cream consistency so it’s incredibly lightweight and sinks into skin almost immediately after application. It’s become a staple in my routine and has seemingly improved my moisture levels, particularly in the winter months.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser For Sensitive Skin, $15 MSRP

I’m pretty picky when it comes to cleansers. My ideal formula leaves my skin clean but not stripped and cannot, under any circumstances, leave a film behind. That’s where the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser for Sensitive Skin comes in. Although I don’t have a particularly sensitive skin type, my skin sometimes reacts negatively to fragrance, so I tend to gravitate toward cleansers that are gentle yet effective. The creamy formula of this one leaves skin feeling hydrated but not greasy and is the perfect base for the rest of my hydration-focused skin-care routine.
