Skin care is a personal thing. While we love sharing product and treatment recommendations with friends, we aren’t necessarily running to tell them about ingrown toenails or an itchy scalp. There are some concerns that we should feel more comfortable talking about, though, and Tara Mackey, founder of Genetix Organic, is setting out to do just that on the topic of breast care and all-natural enhancement oils. We talked to Mackey about why we should normalize our skin-care routine to include our breasts and her inspiration for the brand. Read our discussion below. How did you get into natural skin care and beauty? After years of using severe prescription treatments for a wide array of ailments, I realized that the traditional approaches I was using to fight my health issues and concerns were unsustainable, unhealthy and stigmatizing. With an extensive background in psychology and genetics, I left a coveted position at Weill Cornell Medical College in 2011 to travel to California to explore natural healing, yoga and meditation. That same year I began utilizing holistic techniques to heal my chronic illnesses, going cold turkey off of fourteen daily medications and healing myself naturally. What inspired you to start Genetix Organic?Genetix Organic was born out of a need I felt I had. Like a lot of women, I desired a larger chest size but surgery and chemical-laden creams were out of the question. I wanted to find a solution that would create long-term yet gentle results for my body. I quite literally made my own solution with superfoods instead of chemicals. Once I shared this solution on my blog, The Organic Life, and received feedback from readers that it worked for them, Genetix Organic was born in 2016. After years of positive results and thousands of amazing testimonials, our products are now available on Walmart.com.Can you tell us about your products and why it was important for you to use clean ingredients? Our first product was a breast enhancement oil, and my main reason for inventing my own oil was that all the products that were currently on the market for breast enhancement were laden with toxic chemicals that you don’t want anywhere near your breasts. My company is designed to address the most common (and most rarely talked about) skin-care needs for women and with my background in clean beauty, biology, invention and trying many of our products on myself for six years before going to production, I knew that they worked better than the products that are full of chemicals. What is your current skin-care routine? In the morning, I exfoliate with Acure Exfoliating Face Wash, then I use a rose toner and Genetix Daytime Glow Brightening Serum to moisturize. Throughout the day I reapply the serum if my skin gets dry, and I use Genetix Detox Repair Serum on my body throughout the day. I use the Activated Lip Lift throughout the day as well for plump and moisturized lips. At night, I use a gentle face wash from Acure, tone with rose water again and use Genetix Cellular Recovery Serum at night. Before bed I do my breast massage with our Activated Enhancement Oil.       View this post on Instagram           Can you share some advice with other aspiring female entrepreneurs?  Women are so strong and we want to do everything ourselves. We’re built to do everything ourselves. But my advice is that even if you can do everything yourself,  accept help. Let people guide you. Let others take things off your shoulders. I think it’s one of the hardest, and best things we have to learn as business women.Do you have a dream product that you hope to share with your audience one day?Yes! We are coming out with a breast care oil very soon, because we want to focus on breast health for women and normalize breast care. I’m so excited about this one.
