The team recently received complimentary samples of Lancome Juicy Shakers to review and it’s safe to say that they’re poised to shake up your lip routine…literally! Ahead, we’re sharing our review of Lancome Juicy Shaker, its benefits, how to use it, the whole shebang. Read on to see what we thought.

For years, my personal beauty motto was as follows: You’re never fully dressed without some lipstick. A pop of color on your pout can instantly turn an outfit from drab to fab, not to mention brighten a complexion and draw attention to the face (in addition to a highlight and contour, of course). And so, my arsenal was always fully stocked with lipsticks upon lipsticks in shades spanning the rainbow and in textures from sheer to matte—and still is today. More recently, however, I’ve started to expand my collection beyond traditional lipsticks to incorporate additional pout-pleasers that are very en vogue, be it balms, glosses, or oils. Enter: Lancôme Juicy Shaker.

The Benefits of Lancome Juicy Shaker

When Lancome introduced their original collection of the cult-classic Juicy Tubes, they were met with incredible fanfare. Every gal and their mother owned at least one tube of the ultra-shiny gloss—or so it seemed. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise us one bit if the beauty community collectively prayed that the formula never be discontinued in their lifetime. Good news: Juicy Tubes are still available. More good news: Juicy Shakers, the new kids on the block, are just as buzz-worthy.

Dubbed by some as the grown-up version of Juicy Tubes, Lancome Juicy Shaker is housed in a martini shaker barrel (lip cocktail, anyone?). When we first received our complimentary Juicy Shaker to review we were actually surprised by how much bigger the product was than we had previously thought—nearly 3 inches! The formula features bi-phase technology that delivers pigmented lip oil in two distinct phases. The first phase is a transparent oil phase for a comfortable, non-sticky shine. The blend is infused with four nourishing oils—peach kernel oil, sweet almond oil, cranberry oil, and muscat rose oil—that help condition and hydrate lips. The second phase is the pigment phase for a beautiful burst of color. When shaken, the pigments and oil combine to deliver a natural-looking shot of shine and sheer tint of color to lips without drying them out. The result? Lips that look glossy and kissable.

One of my biggest peeves when it comes to lip product is when an applicator is rough on my delicate lips. What’s the point of soothing an uncomfortable pout using an applicator that’ll cause more irritation? Luckily, Lancome Juicy Shaker offers a soft and flexible foam applicator that’s gentle on lips and uber-precise. The wand is bouncy and has a tapered point that allows for easier application and navigation. (We get it: Sometimes it’s hard to stay within the lines. No judgment.)

You didn’t think we’d forget to talk about the shades, did you? One of the biggest benefits of Lancome Juicy Shaker is the sheer volume of vibrant tints (18 in total) to choose from—and they each boast their own unique, delicious scent! There’s a deep red formula called Cherry Symphony, which smells divinely luscious and fruity. Other hues include a sparkly orange (aptly called Apri-Cute), a honey-scented nude, a bright minty blue, a dark berry purple, and more! With so many options, there’s surely a color that’ll appeal to all. Just don’t be surprised if you want the entire range.  

How to Use Lancome Juicy Shaker

There’s going to be some shaking involved in order to use this lip oil (hence the name) so your arm muscles are very much a part of this process. First, shake the Lancome Juicy Shaker as you would a cocktail shaker to mix the pigment and oil together, up to five times. Then, tap the cushion applicator onto lips for a tint of color with a sheer finish. If you’d like a bolder, more pigmented look, build a base on your pout using your favorite lip liner or matte lipstick before tapping on your Juicy Shaker hue. If you’d like to give your lips a temporary plump-like appearance, tap some additional formula onto the corners of your cupid’s bow on your upper lip.

Lancome Juicy Shaker Review

Upon first application, the formula made my lips feel incredibly soft, moist, and comforted. The applicator was cushiony soft, gently hugging my pout to deliver an even boost of hydration and sheer color without ever feeling sticky. I tried on every last shade and have trouble picking a favorite—they’re all to-die-for! I did notice that some hues were more pigmented than others (Piece of Cake and Berry in Love among them), but the finished look is definitely natural and barely-there, especially when worn alone. Since I prefer a bolder look on my pout, I’ll likely continue to use the Lancome Juicy Shaker collection on top of a lipstick to add a glossy effect. The wear isn’t incredibly long-lasting, so I recommend keeping it on hand for touch-ups throughout the day. Thanks to its small size and portability, this should be very easy for you to do. It’s also enjoyable to apply it, so we’re not bothered by the need to use it more often than a long-wear product. If you’re neurotic about a bare pout, try applying a matte lipstick underneath the Juicy Shaker formula to keep your lips adorned with color for a longer period of time. As for the scent, the formulas smell as good as they sound—think: cinnamon, berry, citrus, candy, cake, etc.—and made my lips smell equally delectable. The bottom line? Lancome Juicy Shaker is a playful lip oil to add to your rotation—don’t hesitate to do so!
