Traveling is a great way to switch up a daily routine and hit the reset button on a jam-packed lifestyle. Taking a vacation to relax and unwind from time to time is crucial for our overall well-being, but it can do a number on our skin. From dry cabin air on flights to continuous sun exposure while lounging on the beach, our skin can look dramatically different upon our return back home. We connected with Vanda Serrador, facialist and body care expert at The Body Shop, for tips on how to reboot our skin and give it the attention it needs after an indulgence-filled vacation. 1. USE GENTLE EXFOLIATORS“While on vacation we tend to apply sunblock, sweat more, and be more exposed to the sun," Serrador explains. "This can build up dead cells, which can make the skin feel dehydrated. By exfoliating, we [slough off] dead skin cells from the [surface of our] face and body and reveal fresh, glowing skin."2. INDULGE IN HYDRATING OILS AND CREAMS“After exfoliating, you have a great opportunity to give your skin what it needs the most after being exposed to the different vacation elements," she says. "To do that, choose nourishing, calming, and hydrating oils or creams. Oils are great due to their light texture and affinity with the skin.”3. PAMPER YOUR SKIN WITH MASKS“Masks are amazing multitaskers and you can find them for any skin need," Serrador says. "They give us the opportunity to go semi-pro using [formulas] to rapidly restore après skin. We can even be really precise and customize according to the different skin area needs by opting for a multi-mask treatment.”4. TAKE A SALT BATHSSerrador recommends soaking in a salt bath post-vacation because they are not only cleansing they’re also extremely relaxing and help to restore the skin with vital minerals, leaving your skin feeling soft and hydrated.5. DRINK WATER WITH LEMONDrinking water with lemon is another one of Serrador’s top tips for rebooting skin after an indulgent vacation. This citrus-infused water is both super hydrating and refreshing!
